Claire Gibson - Beyond the Point — in conversation with Caroline Pestel — at Politics and Prose at The Wharf

Upcoming Event
Tuesday, April 30, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Gibson’s debut novel draws on her own experience growing up as the daughter of a professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to tell the story of three extraordinary women cadets. Set on the eve of 9/11, the narrative follows Dani, Hannah, and Avery—a nationally-ranked point guard, the granddaughter of an Army general, and a rebellious Homecoming Queen—as they bond in a close friendship to face the formidable challenges ahead. As time passes, however, their experiences mark them in different ways and they begin to move in separate directions. A powerful new voice in contemporary fiction, Gibson vividly explores the nature of friendship, family, and patriotism.

Gibson will be in conversation with Captain Caroline Pestel (West Point Class of 2010), who currently serves in the office of the Secretary of Defense. A photographer and social media coach, Caroline also publishes the magazine CADET, with her husband and fellow West Point graduate, Chris Pestel '03).
