Brian Murphy - 81 Days Below Zero: The Incredible Survival Story of a World War II Pilot in Alaska's Frozen Wilderness

Monday, June 8, 2015 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Murphy is a long-time AP reporter currently writing for The Washington Post. His first book recounts the 1943 crash of an Army B-24 in Alaska, but this is neither a war story nor the saga of a daring rescue. Rather, Murphy reconstructs the twelve weeks the lone survivor, Leon Crane, spent in the frozen Yukon after parachuting from the doomed aircraft. His four crewmates killed, Crane had only his instincts, determination, and luck to rely on. But it was enough.
