Anton Piatigorsky - Al-Tounsi

Upcoming Event
Sunday, March 26, 2017 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Following the strikingly original stories of Iron Bridge, which imagined what some of the world’s most notorious dictators were like as teenagers, Piatigorsky’s equally innovative first novel traces a landmark case involving the rights of detainees held at a U.S. military base. Charting the proceedings not through legal reasoning but through the Justices’ personal preoccupations, the novel focuses on individual members of the High Court as they grapple variously with outsize ambition, a complicated relationship, illness, and a daughter’s scandalous affair. Piatigorsky, also an accomplished playwright, brings out the inherent drama of the courtroom.
