Andre Dubus III - Gone So Long — in conversation with Laura Lippman

Upcoming Event
Wednesday, October 3, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Written with the penetrating psychological insight and emotional power that made his acclaimed The House of Sand and Fog unforgettable, Dubus’s first novel in ten years tells the stories of a long estranged father and daughter. Susan Dunn, her life once again at an impasse, prepares to start over.  But her failing marriage, stalled academic career, and abandoned novel are only symptoms of a more intractable problem that dates back forty years, to the murder of her mother—by her father. Now out of prison, her father wants to see his daughter once more before he dies. As the characters look back over their lives and Susan struggles through her reawakened pain and anger, deciding what, if anything, she owes her mother’s killer, Dubus explores profound questions of forgiveness and mercy. Dubus will be in conversation with Laura Lippman, author most recently of Sunburn.
