Revise, Rethink, Reveal: A Two-Part Poetry Workshop (1698)

Two Fridays: November 11, 18, 1 to 4 p.m.

$105 (10% off for members)

All poets have them, stuffed in drawers or buried in computer files – poems that started out promisingly and then, somehow, stalled. This two-session workshop will give you a chance to revise a “problem” poem in the company of other writers who are struggling with the same frustrations. The week before our first meeting, each participant will submit one such poem to the group. These poems will be the focus of our discussion; first, we’ll examine their strengths, then move on to possible strategies for revision. Along the way, we’ll explore craft and technique, uncovering the ways in which a poem’s building blocks turn into a unified, meaningful whole. The following week, we’ll meet again, revisions in hand, for more group discussion. Be ready to write outside your comfort zone, add to your poetry toolbox, and have fun.
