Join us for an engaging and eye-opening talk by Andrew Imbrie on the fascinating world of Artificial Intelligence.

The decisions that leaders in governments, companies, research labs, and universities make about Artificial Intelligence (AI) will prove to be some of the most consequential of this young century. In this session, AI policy expert Dr. Andrew Imbrie will provide an introduction to the key concepts and underlying techniques that drive modern AI. He will then share five key insights from his most recent, co-authored book, The New Fire: War, Peace, and Democracy in the Age of AI.

Andrew Imbrie is the Gracias Chair in Security and Emerging Technology at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and an Affiliate at Georgetown's Center for Security and Emerging Technology, where he previously worked as a Senior Fellow and served as an advisor to the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence. He has held a variety of roles in the U.S. government, including as a senior advisor on cyber and emerging technology policy to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, as a speechwriter to the secretary of state and member of the policy planning staff at the U.S. Department of State, and as a professional staff member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He is the co-author of The New Fire: War, Peace, and Democracy in the Age of AI, and the author of Power on the Precipice: The Six Choices America Faces in a Turbulent World. He received his Ph.D. in international relations from Georgetown University. Imbrie grew up as the son of a U.S. Foreign Service Officer. He has traveled to more than 60 countries and speaks French, Italian, and German.
