The artist Andrew Wyeth once said that he prefers “winter and fall, when you can feel the bone structure in the landscape – the loneliness of it … Something waits beneath it – the whole story doesn’t show.” In this workshop we’ll face the loneliness of winter and look for the waiting story beneath it by using Katherine May’s book Wintering as our guide. We’ll discuss the February and March chapters of her book and then write from a series of genre-flexible prompts to explore snowfall, taking a plunge into the unknown, and the coming thaw. Come with a notebook and pen, your curiosity, and a willingness to both explore and play.
This class can be taken with the Wintering classes in November, December, and January or as a standalone class.
This class is open to all levels of writers.
