Sold out Please email classes@politics-prose.com for the wait list. Write a short story in a month! In this hands-on workshop, we’ll walk through all of the building blocks to compose, edit, and workshop an short story. We’ll start each class with a close-reading of an excellent classic to identify techniques every writer can use, then we’ll create and develop our own stories through in-class exercises. Throughout the month, we will play with tools for breaking through writing blocks, and we’ll experiment with genre, tense, character, and point of view to get out of any ruts or expectations we may have about what a story “should be.” The class will be fun and appropriate for both first-time and experienced fiction writers — and we also welcome memoirists, essayists, and others looking for a creative and fun way to learn new tools. Participants will leave the class with a complete short story and new ways of looking at writing.
