Lecture and Discussion with Writing Exercises. This live class will be recorded and available for later viewing.

Memoirs don’t only come in novel-like tomes. Micro-memoirs—true stories told in one page or less—give us the chance to experiment with autobiographical writing without committing to a long-term project. Although “micros” are meant to stand on their own, they can also be strung together like beads on a necklace to create a memoir-in-pieces.

In this workshop with essayist and micro-memoir author Amy Suardi, you will:

- learn the elements of this form and what distinguishes it from anecdote,
- play with writing a few of your own micro-memoirs,
- share your work and receive supportive feedback, and
- experience how constraints like word count can spark creativity.
