At this spine-chilling season, join renowned poet and witch Annie Finch for a delightfully spine-tingling dive into the worlds of two brilliant poets of the uncannyEdgar Allan Poe and Helen Adam. Poe in the 19th century and Adam in the 20th made creepiness a hallmark of their poetry. We will read their classic poems aloud just for fun, notice and appreciate the great skill and craft with which they achieve their phenomenal poetic effects, and discuss their unique inner and outer lives. Annie Finch, poet, author, and performer has written or edited nearly twenty books including Spells: New and Selected Poems, The Body of Poetry: Essays on Women, Form, and the Poetic Self, Measure for Measure: An Anthology of Poetic Meters, and A Poet’s Craft: A Comprehensive Guide to Making and Sharing Your Poetry. She earned a Ph.D from Stanford University, has lectured at universities including Harvard, Oxford, and Toronto, and has taught widely.
