An exploration of one of the most effective ways that the bodies of poems breathe. Through reading, discussion, and writing in stanza forms, we will explore the immense impact of stanzas on poems. Each session focuses on a different species of stanza: unrhymed and monostanzas, envelope and alternating stanzas, and interwoven stanzas. Topics covered will include the mood, history, and impact of each type of stanza, how to choose which to use, and best practices and tips for using stanzas most effectively. No previous poetry writing experience is necessary to join this intensive, hands-on workshop. Four Wednesdays: November 6, 13, 20, 27 and make up date December 4 from 3-5:30 p.m.
