How To Write Op-Eds To Make a Political Difference (18114)

One Saturday, October 20th, 2-5 PM

$70.00 (10% off for members)

With 800 city newspapers seeking Op-Eds by a full range of citizens, here’s your chance to make your view count before November mid-term elections. Taught by an Op-Ed editor, this class teaches how to turn your passion into persuasion suitable for publication. You’ll learn how to find credible data to support your viewpoint, pull in readers with your opening paragraph, succinctly state your view and knock down opposing arguments (politely), and create a memorable close—all in 750 words. Winslow plans to illustrate this workshop using data from gun control advocates, but the class will enable you to write on any subject.

Joyce Winslow was Op-Ed and Commentary Editor of the nonpartisan, nonprofit RAND Corporation where she helped experts translate their research into accessible OP EDs—more than 60 in two years. Her own clients include former Secretary of Defense Harold Brown with whom she wrote a book, CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, scientists, and economic experts. She has written, pitched, and placed 100 Op-Eds with a 98% success rate, including 13 under her own byline, all in top-tier newspapers.

REFUND POLICY: Please note that we can issue class refunds up until seven (7) days before the first class session.
