Politics and Prose continues to monitor closely the recommendations and reports about coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Washington metropolitan area. All three of our locations remain open for business. At the same time, we’re taking extra care to disinfect surfaces and common areas, including event and classroom spaces, and have added hand sanitizer dispensers at store entrances.
Looking ahead, local businesses like P&P will surely be impacted in this period of uncertainty. Rest assured, though, that we’re working on new ways to provide you with great customer service and quality programming even while taking precautions as the situation develops.
To facilitate sales to all of you who wish to remain at home, we’re pleased to offer free shipping on orders going to addresses in the United States. This offer will be available between now and at least March 31. You can place orders through P&P’s website (www.politics-prose.com) or over the phone (202-364-1919).
For the health and safety of our community, we also ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:
- Don’t enter our stores, attend events, or participate in classes if you are sick. In particular, please stay home if you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other flu-like symptoms.
- Don’t enter the stores if you have recently been in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 until you’ve been cleared by a medical professional.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or with a hand sanitizer.
- Review advice and updates about COVID-19 being issued by the CDC and the DC Department of Health to make the best decisions for your health as well as the health of your neighbors.
While we expect many of P&P’s events to go on as planned, please check the events calendar on P&P’s website for up-to-date information on cancellations. As an extra precaution during author talks, we’re eliminating signing lines and instead will have visiting authors sign books in advance to be sold after the events. Those P&P events held outside our stores which require tickets to attend will be addressed on a case-by-base basis, with ticket holders receiving an email notification of any changes. If you have specific questions regarding events, please call our stores or email events@politics-prose.com.
We hope you all stay well. And we very much appreciate your ongoing support.
