Building Jammin with 130 pictures 60 years on the water building, rebuilding and restoring boats. This book was written by a man that lives eats and breaths boats. This is the book written for anyone that is considering building a boat of any kind or restoring one. It covers all the building methods and materials. Comparing one each method against the other to show you the good and not so good points about each method. Then it goes into other ways of becoming a boat owner Buying used, through an Estate Sale, Hurricane Boats, unfinished projects, and the advantages and disadvantages of each. It shows you what options are available to you. I wrote the book that I wish had been available before I started on Jammin. She was a 42 ft Pilot House Cutter that was built in my spare time over 18 years. Then I lived on her for 30 before Hurricane Micheal destroyed her. During this time I was the New and Used Boat Manager for Treasure Island Marina. My job was to ensure that every boat in inventory did what it was supposed to do. All used boats were systematically gone through to ensure that all systems worked and that they were seaworthy. A job I was born to do. Then on October 10, 2018, Michael blew into town and destroyed my home. Not even I could restore her. I was able to find another boat that Lloyds of London said was totaled, a Tayana 37. If you know boats, this is a sailer's boat She was designed by Bob Perry and is ranked at the 7th best all-time cruising boat in the world Checking her out, everything was there, the hull was sound and I realized she was rebuildable. For me to do this it would take some time and all my talents to rebuild her. On deck, she was in serious trouble. Yet it was just fiberglass and woodworking. The parts that were broken beyond compare were replaceable So she was purchased through a broker and I have spent the last 12 months restoring her. All that is also covered in Building Jammin Yes, it has been one hell of a journey. In this book, I take you through the entire process of building with pictures to help guide you. You may decide after reading this book that boat building is not for you and chose to buy one instead. But here's the thing it's nice to know your options Personally, I love this stuff. Building boats is a kick in the pants for me. Watching something you have crafted with your own hands come together is amazing. When you take her out for her first cruise, that is a feeling you will never forget. Along the way, I have learned a lot, screwed up and lot but then I've made a lot of great choices. You can watch Jammin come together as I explain what I am doing and why. You need to know where my head was at, at each phase of construction. Methods and materials are also discussed. You can see pictures of each phase of construction. In the back is a list of suppliers for anything you could possibly want in building a boat. Each company has experts that are there to help you and answer any questions you may have. From 6 ft prams to as big as your dreams may take you this book will answer your questions. Most suppliers offer plans to assist in making up your mind of which boat to build. The frosting on the cake is it will save you thousands of dollars and tons of time. There are ways to build any boat, faster, stronger and cheaper All that is covered in Building Jammin. There is also a black and white version of this book and even an Ebook Fair Winds Capt Mike.
