The Last Leopard by Elizabeth A. Weston

Set in Kenya, New York, and Antibes, The Last Leopard is partly an homage to the Kenyan people and their country’s natural riches, and to the benevolence of those who fight for the disenfranchised, man and animal alike. Peter Dunn, an American Park Service ranger for the Everglades, travels to Kenya to conduct a comparative study on endangered species. Fortuitously, he meets a Maasai tribesman who guides him on a safari trek to Amboseli. Peter asks Jambar Muchiri to show him the leopard, one of the most elusive of the big cats. Thus, in a particular location called the Bustani, Jambar does indeed bring him to the right place, and unanticipated, severe consequences.
