A.K.A. Red by Page Wilson

Former liberal Senator George Larkey, a.k.a. Red, has been asked by the President of the United States to submit a report on the state of the UN Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) designed to fight pollution there. Reluctant at first, George signs on to the project after hearing he'll have an assistant, a Professor Helder who is a cultural geographer. When Dr. Helder turns out to be a beautiful woman, the plot thickens. Intrigue, romance, and a sharp assessment of the "great crunch between society and nature that we have been calling the environmental crisis" make this book both ntertaining and extremely relevant in the 21st century.
