OPTIONAL THREE-DAY EXTENSION
Florence Art and Cooking Tour
Monday, November 3 Wednesday, November 5

The Hotel Maxim is in the heart of downtown Florence, within walking distance to most of the piazzas, monuments, and markets. Our P&P group stayed here last year and we are pleased to return again. After checking into our hotel on Sunday, the afternoon is free to get your bearings. Sunday evening we will meet back at the hotel and have dinner in a restaurant nearby.

Monday morning we plan to take a three-hour guided walking tour of three of the most important Renaissance palaces, with a licensed Renaissance art historian. The afternoon is free, and perhaps a good time to see the Uffizi Gallery. Again, we will meet before dinner at the hotel.

On Tuesday, we will take the local bus to the nearby hill town of Fiesole, where Florentines escaped during the plague, which is a lovely town overlooking the city. After lunch, we will return to the city and your time is free until five when we have booked a cooking class with a chef who will teach us how to cook some of his best Tuscan dishes, after which we will sit down to dinner in his restaurant and taste what we have helped to prepare.

Wednesday morning is check-out time at the hotel. If your plans call for flying home, Peretola airport is an easy half hour taxi ride away.

Price: $1,560 includes single room with bath, all breakfasts and two dinners, art tour and Tuscan cooking lessons.
