Michael Dirda, On Conan Doyle: Or, the Whole Art of Storytelling (Princeton University, $19.95)
Michael Dirda, the Pulitzer-Prize winning book critic for the Washington Post, will discuss and sign copies of his book, On Conan Doyle. Dirda’s study is an elucidating primer on Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the world’s most famous fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes. It is also a revealing memoir of Dirda’s own lifelong fascination with Holmes, a passion shared with legions of devoted “Baker Street Irregulars.” The lecture will be followed by a reception.  Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event. Reservations are not required. This event is free and open to the public. Please call 202.331.7282, ext. 16, for more information.

Out of Store Events

Did you know that Politics & Prose sells books for author events held outside the store?

Book sales outside the store provide another service to individuals and organizations in the community and help us increase our sales. We have sold books at author-signing parties in private homes, in churches, and at many other venues. We have even sold books at baseball games, theater openings and, once, a reception in a beauty salon! Each out-of-store sale is different.

Politics & Prose provides books and the staff to sell them, although some groups prefer to sell books themselves. If you are giving a party for a friend who has a book coming out, or if your business or organization is sponsoring a speaker who's written a recent book, call our offsite coordinator, Bonnie Kogod, at (202) 363-7738 - the earlier the better - and we'll make every effort to accommodate your needs. We look forward to adding to the success of your event.

Politics & Prose supplies books to these book signing events. Reservations and tickets should be acquired from the hosting organization.
