Our store is located on Connecticut Avenue, immediately south of the intersection with Nebraska Avenue. It is north of Van Ness/UDC and south of Chevy Chase Circle. Click on the map above to get detailed directions from Google.
By Metro: Take the Red Line to Van Ness. We are one mile north on Connecticut (a 15 minute walk). You can also take the L1, L2, or L4 bus from the Van Ness Metro Station.
From Arlington: From VA Route 50 East or 66 East, take Constitution Ave. to 18th Street and make a left at 18th. Stay straight through downtown then veer left onto Connecticut Ave. Take Connecticut North, past Van Ness/UDC. Politics and Prose is on the right just past Fessenden.
From Dulles Airport: Take the Dulles Toll Road to 495 towards Baltimore. Exit at Connecticut Avenue South. Drive about five miles south on Connecticut. Politics and Prose is just south of Nebraska on the left-hand side of the street.
From Washington National Airport: Follow Route 1 to the 14th Street Bridge. Take 14th Street to K Street. Take a left at K Street. Take K to Connecticut Avenue. Go North (right from K) on Connecticut—past Van Ness/UDC. The store is just past Fessenden on the right.
D.C. Navigational Tip: Streets in D.C. are organized alphabetically and syllabically (one syllable names first, etc.)
The P&P Parking Lot: is located in the rear of the store.
If you are driving north on Connecticut, turn right at Fessenden Street, then make an immediate left on 36th Street. The entrance to the parking lot is on the left, just before the street enters the woods.
If you are driving south on Connecticut, cross Nebraska Avenue, and pass the store on your left. Make a left turn on Fessenden, then make an immediate left on 36th Street. The entrance to the parking lot is on the left.
The parking lot fills up quickly for our evening author talks.
The D.C. Police Department has informed us that parking on 36th Street past Garrison (where the road descends into the woods towards Rock Creek Park) is legal on both sides of the road until the road narrows. You may also park in the nearby neighborhoods for two hours where posted. However, our neighbors ask that you do not block or park in their driveways.
Politics & Prose is wheelchair accessible.
The store is situated on two floors. While stairs provide quick passage between the floors, we also have an elevator.
Our elevator is located in the Remainder Room on the lower level (parking lot level) and in the Fiction Room on the main level.
