How do I read a Google eBook on my Sony Reader?
First time only
- If you haven't done so already, install the latest version of Reader™ Library Software and create an Adobe ID or Sony eBook store ID.
- Now follow the steps below.
All other times
- Connect your Reader™ from Sony to your computer using the USB cable provided with the device.
- Open Reader™ Library Software on your computer. Confirm that Reader™ Library Software recognizes your Reader™ from Sony by locating the device in the left-hand pane. If it does not, close and reopen the Reader™ software with the USB cable in place.
- You can download a Google eBook by clicking the "download" link on the My eBooks page on this website. You will need to be logged in to our website in order to access this page.
When you attempt to download your eBook, you may see an error message that the eBook was not found on Google's server. This happens if you are not currently logged in to Google. You can follow the 'Read' link on the My eBooks page to log in, or, click here. - Locate and open the .acsm file from your computer, and the file should open using Reader™ Library Software. If it does not, select "Import Files" from the File menu and locate the .acsm file on your computer.
- Click and drag the Google eBook file onto the device in the left-hand pane. A green plus sign appearing as you drag the file over the device indicates that the eBook is authorized to be transferred to the device. The eBook will transfer to your device within a few seconds.
- Note: If a green plus sign does not appear as you drag the file over the device, the device is not authorized.
- To confirm the file has been transferred, click on device in the left-hand pane and locate the file by the book title.
- Before disconnecting, safely remove the device by clicking on the eject icon next to the device in the left-hand pane. The device will disappear from the left-hand pane. Your device may still show "USB connected", but disconnecting the cable is now safe.
