Wael Ghonim - Revolution 2.0 - CANCELED
Jan 18 2012 7:00 pm
Jan 18 2012 8:01 pm
Ghonim, a little-known Egyptian in the fall of 2010, launched a Facebook page to protest the death of one Egyptian man. By January, thousands had taken to the streets and hundreds of thousands joined protests on-line; thus, the Arab Spring was born. The event is free but tickets are required. Please contact P&P. In partnership with GW University’s School of Media and Public Affairs.
This event has been canceled as Wael Ghonim is unable to leave Egypt at this time.
Wael Ghonim's statement:
“I had been eagerly awaiting the chance to share my book story,
Revolution 2.0, to speak about the Egyptian revolution in interviews and
through public appearances. Yet to my deep regret, events in my home
country force me to cancel my trip. I am working as hard as I can among
others to ensure that my country becomes a true democracy and that the blood of
the martyrs is not forgotten. I apologize to everyone whom I had been
scheduled to meet, and I hope I will be able to reschedule very soon.” Regards,
WG
