Lebovitz started working in restaurants at age sixteen as a dishwasher. He trained as a chef in Europe, then spent nearly thirteen years at Berkeley’s Chez Panisse. In 1999, he left full-time cooking for writing, and since then has published cookbooks and memoirs including My Paris Kitchen and The Sweet Life in Paris. The latest installment of his ex-pat journey chronicles Lebovitz’s purchase and renovation of a Paris apartment. The project proved more complicated than he expected, but as he sorts out various tangles of red tape and misunderstandings, he discovers new facets of his adopted city, finds more stories about French food and culture, and serves up twenty new recipes.

Join Lebovitz, Joe Yonan, two-time James Beard Award-winning Food and Dining editor of The Washington Post and the author of Eat Your Vegetables: Bold Recipes for the Single Cook, and owner of Buck's James Alefantis for an elegant French country lunch inspired by David's ongoing culinary adventures in France including foods and wines inspired by his writing.
