In 2009 The Best Baguette of DC title went not to a professional loaf, but to Fromartz’s homemade effort. Bread has always been a passion for this Washington journalist, and in his memoir Fromartz recounts what he’s learned not just about French bread, but also about sourdough, rye, and country wheat, along with the history of grains, fermentation, and bread-making practices around the world.
