Meghan Daum - Selfish, Shallow, and Self-Absorbed: Sixteen Writers on the Decision Not to Have Kids

Saturday, April 25, 2015 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm

If our genes are primed to carry on their legacy, is it unnatural not to want children? While parenting books abound, books about choosing not to be a parent are rare. In this frank and insightful anthology, sixteen writers reflect on their childlessness and on the social pressure to have children. Join the collection’s editor, Daum, Los Angeles Times columnist, author of Unspeakable, and no stranger to difficult and controversial issues, and contributor Holt, author of You are One of Them to discuss the challenges and fulfillment of not having 2.3 children.

Daum and Holt will be in conversation with poet and memoirist Sandra Beasley, whose fourth book, Count the Waves, is forthcoming from W.W. Norton in June.
