Marton, award-winning former NPR and ABC News correspondent, investigates the imprisonment of her Hungarian parents during the Cold War, using recently opened archives. Her journalist parents survived the Nazis but then were arrested and imprisoned by the Communists. By poring over the secret police files as well as conducting dozens of interviews, Marton found that her family was spied on and betrayed by friends and colleagues—including a babysitter.
