Zozobra Publishing was established in 2013 and is dedicated to publishing bilingual English-Spanish editions of the best Spanish-language poetry by Latinx writers living in the U.S. Co-edited by Ballesteros, one of Zozobra’s founders, this anthology features work by twenty-three writers in the Washington area.Join us to launch the collection and discuss challenges and goals of being a Latinx writer in this city with co-editors Ballesteros, author of the collection, Lovedust/Polvo enamorado, and Carlos Parada Ayala, author of Light of the Storm and a winner of D.C.’s Larry Neal Poetry Award; poets Samuel Miranda, founder of the poetry collective, Tres Raíces and Martha Sanchez-Lowery, author of the chapbook, Bocanegra and executive producer of the CD Poetry Alive at Iota, and translator Deborah Sobeloff, a writer, teacher, and recipient of a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award in Poetry.
