The Vietnam War Memorial provides visitors with a haunting experience, but the backstory of the memorial is as powerful as the site itself. On the wall, you’ll find a long list of names, each one representing a soldier and a life cut short by the ravages of war. It’s a powerful space for reflection. Famous architects the world over entered proposals for the memorial, but ultimately, the winning designer was Maya Lin. At the time, she was a 21-year old Chinese American college student. This book shines a spotlight on the remarkable young woman who honored veterans with her creativity and talent. Ages 5 to 9.
