A wide-ranging novelist and National Book Critics Circle Award-winning essayist, Dyer published his first two novels in Britain in 1989 and 1993; now available in the U.S, The Colour of Memory is a vivid depiction of dissolute, Bohemian lives in 1980s South London, while The Search is Dyer’s Calvino-esque take on the classic noir.  In Another Great Day at Sea, his latest nonfiction foray, Dyer indulges his lifelong fascination with seagoing vessels, reporting on his trip aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier.(Pantheon)
