Deborah Solomon - American Mirror: The Life and Art of Norman Rockwell

Norman Rockwell’s wholesome, folksy scenes of American life are as easy to love as they are to deride. But there was much more to this artist than meets the eye. In her detailed biography, Solomon, art critic and author of a life of Joseph Cornell, presents a complex man who suffered depression and anxiety and spent years in therapy. She also celebrates him as an innovative artist of visual journalism, whose powerful narratives unfold with humor and compassion.
