David Downie - A Taste of Paris: A History of the Parisian Love Affair with Food — in conversation with Jacki Lyden

Upcoming Event
Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 1:00 pm

Since moving to Paris in the mid-1980s, Downie, whose publications range from crime novels to elegant culinary studies, has vividly presented the distinctive sites and personalities of French culture in Paris, Paris and A Passion for Paris. In the third volume of this lively series, he explores the City of Lights’ long-standing reputation as “a food lover’s paradise.” Casting history in the form of a walking tour, Downie takes readers through Paris and its environs, visiting the neighborhoods where Roman butchers once plied their trade, reimagining one of Louis XVI’s final Versailles banquets, and stopping in at still-thriving Belle Époque bistros.

Downie will be in conversation with Jacki Lyden, host of NPR’s “The Seams.”
