David Callahan - The Givers: Wealth, Power, and Philanthropy in a New Gilded Age

Upcoming Event
Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 7:00 pm

Callahan is the founder and editor of the media site Inside Philanthropy, and his ninth book is a look at how some of the world’s wealthiest individuals are driving a major shift in power. Bill Gates and the Koch brothers are two of the most visible examples of how elite philanthropists are fueling change, but there are plenty of less well-known millionaires organizing foundations and formulating visions. Callahan, a frequent commentator, journalist, and the author of books including The Cheating Culture and Fortunes of Change, has interviewed many donors as well as policy makers, and he reports on the projects now under way in areas ranging from human rights to education to the environment.
