Powerful stories can introduce teens to complex subjects like race, class, and social justice. Three authors have dealt with these tough topics. They will come together to discuss the different, and sometimes clashing, perspectives that intersect in urban cityscapes. Moore, a Howard graduate, is an award-winning documentarian who grew up near Ferguson. The Stars Beneath Our Feet, his first novel, is a moving story set in New York City projects. Stone, a Spelman graduate, explores a young man waking up to the painful realities of race in America in Dear Martin. Slater, a poet and journalist, has covered many criminal justice stories, one of which is the narrative for The 57 Bus. For Teens and Adults.
