Rotraut Susanne Berner’s oversize, wordless book, set in a small town in Germany, is reminiscent of Richard Scarry’s work. As the four seasons pass, there are many details to pay attention to on each page: the reappearing nun with her pet penguin, the man working on his solar panels, the crow always surveying the scene, and the dentist’s chair.
