Science Fiction & Fantasy Bookgroup
"If we write about the past or the future, even an imaginary past or unlikely future, we’re always really writing about the present."
-Steve Himmer
The Science Fiction and Fantasy book group is a small, but enthusiastic, group of Science Fiction readers. We meet the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 in the Remainder room.
The books we've read have ranged from Military Science Fiction like "The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman to classics like "Foundation" by Isaac Asimov or "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeline L'Engle. We've read new authors like "The Time Ships" by Stephen Baxter and "Snow Crash" by Neil Stephenson. If it is Science Fiction, we're open to it. And if it is fantasy and you come to the meetings (and lobby hard enough for it), we'll read that, too. We don't always choose the best books. In fact, some of our best discussions have been about the ones we all passionately hate.
If you are interested in meeting some new and interesting people who like Science Fiction (and Fantasy), why not drop by?
We are now on Meetup.com:
