A unique gift option - a book a month for a year!

Would you like to send a gift to someone who is celebrating a special birthday? Do you want to keep yourself in the mind of a distant parent? A faraway friend? A grandchild living abroad or in an area far from a welcoming bookstore? Let those you know who might live elsewhere experience Politics and Prose the way you do: enroll them in our Gift Book Each Month Program. How the Program Works:

Based on a profile provided by you, long-time P&P staff member Caroline Ketcham will choose and send a gift-wrapped book each month, in your name. She will want to know what books and authors the person has recently read, types of reading preferred (e.g. biography, new fiction, issues in politics, etc.) and a general biographical background of the recipient. In case your information about the recipient’s reading tastes is spotty, she is happy to call them or to communicate with them by e-mail to discuss selections and areas of literary interest.

Costs:

The cost of the program is the cost of the book plus postage, which is between $5 and $9 depending on distance. You can decide to send only hardback, only trade paperback or a mixture of the two. Books can be sent every month for a year (the usual choice) or every other month. Books sent to destinations outside of the District of Columbia are not taxed.

Payment:

Your credit card will be charged for each book plus postage. Politics and Prose keeps credit card numbers absolutely secure and neither you nor the recipient will be solicited in any way.

Notification and Special Occasions:

Caroline can enclose a note card with the first book announcing your gift if you wish. If the gift is to recognize a special occasion (birthday, Christmas etc.) she can choose an appropriate card from P&P’s excellent selection of greeting cards. In the note, she explains the program to the recipient, noting when the books will be regularly sent and that they can be exchanged at Politics and Prose (if that is convenient) or, usually, at the recipient's local bookstore. She urges the reader to call or e-mail her if necessary.

Reproduce or fill in this form with all relevant information and your Gift Book Each Month will be on its way. Mail the form to the address below or simply e-mail the information to Caroline at bookeverymonth@politics-prose.com.
