When poems are long and rambling, their point is often lost, but John’s poetry goes straight to the heart - and comes straight from there too. As the editor of Pennine Ink Magazine, I have had the pleasure of publishing John’s work over quite a few years. His pithy lines say so much in just a few words and can be read and re-read many times over to extract a little more meaning from each piece or simply to revel in the expressions used. Not brash like some modern poetry; not daunting or overwhelming - this collection deserves to be sipped and savoured like a delicate wine.
