“The bewitching illustrations in this edition of the classic Hans Christian Andersen story of a friendship that endures over distance, time, and magical enchantments will lead you through dreamy, star-dusted skies and luminous gardens. This is a perfect gift for children or adults.”
— Victoria VanZile, Wild Rumpus, Minneapolis, MN

Description

Ibatoulline illustrates a storybook version of the classic tale about an evil queen and the ordinary girl who triumphs over her. Andersen's fairy tale is retold using contemporary language that celebrates the modern idea of a strong girl as hero. Full color.

About the Author

Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish writer who gained fame with his fairy tales, such as "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Little Mermaid," which were cleverly written to disguise the tales' sophisticated moral teachings.

Bagram Ibatoulline was born in Omsk, Russia, and attended the State Academic Institute of Arts in Moscow. He has worked in fine arts, graphic arts, mural design, and textile design, and is adept at painting in different styles. This is his first book for Clarion. He lives in Chichester, New York.
