Politics and Prose 25th Anniversary
Thanks To All the People Who Donated Their Time, Support, and Money In the Beginning
David Cohen, Carla’s husband, who has supported the enterprise from the beginning and with his wisdom and forbearance in all the years since.
Edith and Frank Furstenberg, Carla’s parents, who helped with financing at the beginning and with enthusiasm during all the years.
The store would not exist were it not for people who took a chance and lent money to start the store. Stanley Newman said, ask people to lend a sum that will not hurt them if (God forbid) we went out of business. And so we were able to obtain $3000 loans from twenty friends. In addition, fifteen people became Friends-of-the-Bookstore, making smaller loans against which they could buy books. When we expanded in 1989, some of our old friends lent additional funds and some new friends that we made through Politics and Prose made loans.
Thanks to all our lenders:
Sara and Lionel Kestenbaum, Mark and Anne Shields, Frank and Edith Furstenberg, Louise and Edward Hollander, Emily and Fritz Kunreuther, Mark Furstenberg, Helen Seitz, Frank Furstenberg, Jr., and Nina Segré, Carol and Bob Hausman, Susan and Sheldon Schreiberg, Holly Shulman, Carol and Stanley Newman, Carol and John Siegel, Betsy Levin, Eve Preminger and Ted Friedman, Alice and Joel Burton, Bayla White, Michael Barone, Paula and Roger Craver, Irene and Alan Wurtzel, Margaret Reuss, Sandy Rovner, Judy and David Falk, Katherine Klein and John Gomperts, Sidney Hollander, Judith Hollander Pekarsky, Lynne and Joe Horning, the Granger family, Judy Bartnoff and Gene Sofer, Drew Lebby, Esther and Harry Plotkin and Mike Sponder.
We were proud that, by the end of 1995, we were able to repay all of our wonderful supporters.
